Honeywell’s Compressor Controls Corporation (CCC) business unit, a leader in advanced turbomachinery control solutions, is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer II to design, engineer, and deliver state-of-the-art control systems for compressors, steam turbines, and gas turbines. Serving the Oil & Gas, LNG, and Energy sectors, you will contribute to projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability for global energy leaders. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of turbomachinery control systems, including anti-surge, performance, and sequence controls for centrifugal compressors and turbines.
  • Conduct system modeling, simulation, and testing using tools like MATLAB/Simulink and HYSYS to ensure optimal performance under varying operating conditions.
  • Manage full project lifecycles from requirements gathering and FAT/SIT to commissioning and startup at client sites worldwide.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, field service technicians, and clients, to deliver customized solutions meeting stringent safety and reliability standards.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems, performing root cause analysis to resolve complex operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as API 670, IEC 61511, and SIL ratings through rigorous documentation and verification processes.

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering turbomachinery control systems for compressors, turbines, or rotating equipment (experience)
  • Proven track record in control system design, simulation, and commissioning in Oil & Gas or Energy sectors (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/DCS platforms such as Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV, or CCC-specific systems (experience)
  • Familiarity with industry standards including API 670, API 618, and functional safety (SIL) (experience)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for project commissioning (up to 25%) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Control Systems (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Functional Safety Engineer (CFSE) (experience)
  • Experience with LNG facilities or steam/gas turbine controls (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure advanced control algorithms for anti-surge protection, performance optimization, and vibration monitoring in turbomachinery
  • Develop and validate control system models using MATLAB/Simulink, Aspen HYSYS, or similar tools
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Integration Testing (SIT), and on-site commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver technical proposals
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement upgrades for legacy control systems to enhance reliability
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including control narratives, loop diagrams, and HAZOP studies
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer on CCC control architectures
