Job Description

Overview

Honeywell is a Fortune 100 company and a global leader in aerospace technologies, seeking a highly motivated and innovative Aerospace R&D Engineer to join our dynamic team in Yeovil, UK. This hybrid role (blending office and remote work) is pivotal in advancing cutting-edge aerospace systems and associated technologies. You will drive research, concept development, and prototyping from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to TRL 6, contributing to the design, analysis, and testing of next-generation solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including aerodynamics, materials science, and systems engineering—to transform innovative concepts into tangible prototypes that meet rigorous aerospace standards. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment pushing the boundaries of aviation technology, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact at Honeywell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research and feasibility studies on emerging aerospace technologies, including propulsion systems, avionics, and sustainable materials.
  • Develop conceptual designs using CAD tools and simulation software, iterating based on performance modeling and risk assessments.
  • Lead prototyping efforts from TRL 3 to TRL 6, overseeing fabrication, assembly, and initial validation testing.
  • Perform detailed structural, thermal, and aerodynamic analyses using FEA, CFD, and multi-physics simulation tools.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to integrate R&D outputs into product development pipelines.
  • Document findings, prepare technical reports, and present results to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100 and FAA/EASA regulations.

What Makes This Role Exciting

Join a team at the forefront of aerospace innovation, working on projects that power commercial aviation, defense systems, and urban air mobility. Enjoy hybrid flexibility in Yeovil, access to state-of-the-art labs, and opportunities for global collaboration. At Honeywell, you'll benefit from mentorship by industry experts, exposure to groundbreaking technologies like electric propulsion and AI-driven autonomy, and a clear path for career growth in R&D leadership. Contribute to sustainable aviation goals while enjoying a supportive culture that values work-life balance, innovation, and professional development. Be part of shaping the future of flight.

Summary
