Security and Fire Technician - Field Service Technician II

Location: United States | Workplace: On-site

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, sprinklers, CCTV systems, intrusion detection, and access control hardware to ensure compliance with NFPA, UL, and local codes.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and networked system failures using diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and proprietary Honeywell software.
  • Install and configure new security and fire protection systems, integrating with building management systems (BMS) and IP-based networks for optimal functionality.
  • Conduct system testing, commissioning, and certification, documenting findings in detailed service reports and customer handover packages.
  • Respond to emergency service calls, providing 24/7 on-call support to resolve critical issues swiftly and restore operations.
  • Train end-users on system operation, maintenance best practices, and emergency procedures to empower safe, independent usage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and vehicles while adhering to safety protocols and Honeywell's quality assurance standards.

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician in security, fire alarm, or low-voltage systems installation and maintenance (experience)
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to travel up to 50% within assigned territory (experience)
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for fire and security systems (experience)
  • Knowledge of industry standards including NFPA 72, UL 864, and local fire codes (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems (experience)
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Notifier, Simplex) or Lenel/ Genetec for access control (experience)
  • Experience with integrated building automation systems (BACnet, Modbus) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in fire detection, suppression, security alarms, CCTV, and access control systems using advanced diagnostic tools
  • Install, program, and commission new Honeywell security and fire equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to proactively identify and resolve potential issues
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies, delivering rapid on-site resolutions to minimize customer disruption
