Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement advanced embedded software for microcontrollers and processors in resource-constrained environments.
  • Develop and optimize real-time applications using C/C++ and assembly, ensuring compliance with DO-178C DAL A/B standards.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging using tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and emulators.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems architects, and firmware teams to define interfaces and resolve integration challenges.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices in embedded software development.
  • Analyze system performance, power consumption, and reliability to meet stringent aerospace and industrial requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven track record developing safety-critical software compliant with DO-178C or ISO 26262 standards (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with embedded C/C++, RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Green Hills INTEGRITY), and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex, PowerPC) and hardware peripherals (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing tools, static analysis, and version control systems like Git (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering or related field (experience)
  • DO-178C certification or experience with high DAL (A/B) projects (experience)
  • Familiarity with model-based development tools like MATLAB/Simulink or SCADE (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace, avionics, or automotive embedded systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and optimize embedded software for real-time control systems using C/C++ and RTOS
  • Develop and execute unit/integration tests, including MISRA-compliant static analysis and coverage metrics
  • Integrate software with hardware platforms, troubleshooting low-level issues with debuggers and protocol analyzers
  • Lead requirements analysis, traceability, and verification activities to meet certification standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and quality teams to deliver robust solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct peer reviews to uphold code quality and best practices
  • Investigate and resolve field issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
