Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement high-performance embedded software for resource-constrained microcontrollers and SoCs used in aerospace avionics and industrial IoT devices.
  • Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to testing, integration, and deployment, adhering to DO-178C and MISRA standards.
  • Optimize real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks for low-latency, deterministic performance in safety-critical systems.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers for peripherals including sensors, actuators, communication interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, ARINC 429), and power management.
  • Conduct rigorous unit, integration, and system-level testing using tools like VectorCAST and LDRA to ensure compliance with functional safety (SIL/ASIL) requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews to maintain code quality, scalability, and adherence to Honeywell's software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and quality assurance teams to resolve complex integration challenges and innovate on embedded AI/ML edge processing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven track record working with embedded C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M/RISC-V microcontrollers (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical software development processes (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of RTOS, bare-metal programming, and hardware-software integration (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor teams (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Embedded Systems Professional (CESP) or ARM Accredited Engineer (experience)
  • Experience with embedded Linux, AUTOSAR, or aerospace protocols (ARINC 653, MIL-STD-1553) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced embedded software architectures for multi-core processors in aerospace and industrial applications
  • Implement and optimize real-time firmware for sensors, communication stacks, and control algorithms
  • Lead debugging and root-cause analysis of complex embedded issues using oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and protocol analyzers
  • Perform static and dynamic code analysis to ensure MISRA compliance and zero-defect quality
  • Integrate embedded security features including cryptographic libraries, secure boot, and OTA updates
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and validate system performance
  • Document designs, generate test reports, and support certification activities for regulatory approval
