Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement high-reliability embedded software for space-rated systems, ensuring compliance with ECSS and NASA standards.
  • Lead the development of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and fault-tolerant algorithms for satellite avionics and payload control.
  • Perform rigorous software verification, validation, and integration testing in simulated space environments using tools like MATLAB/Simulink and LDRA.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware engineers, systems architects, and mission planners, to deliver scalable space solutions.
  • Optimize software performance for resource-constrained environments, focusing on low-power computing and radiation-hardened processors.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for aerospace or defense systems (experience)
  • Proven track record working with real-time systems and space-qualified software standards (e.g., ECSS-E-ST-40C) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded C/C++, RTOS (e.g., VxWorks, FreeRTOS), and hardware-software integration (experience)
  • Strong understanding of software engineering lifecycle (SDLC) in safety-critical domains (experience)
  • Eligibility to work in the Czech Republic or EU citizenship (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline (experience)
  • Experience with space mission software (e.g., satellites, CubeSats, or planetary rovers) (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Spacecraft Developer (CSD) or MISRA C compliance (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced embedded software architectures for space systems, including attitude determination and control systems (ADCS)
  • Lead code reviews, unit testing, and integration of software modules in CI/CD pipelines tailored for space applications
  • Implement fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) mechanisms to ensure mission success in harsh space environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Perform modeling and simulation of software behavior under space conditions using tools like SPICE or MagicDraw
  • Contribute to proposal development and technical documentation for space program bids
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies like AI/ML for autonomous space operations and apply them innovatively
