Key Responsibilities

  • Define system architectures and requirements by leading technical trade studies and analyses in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Execute systems engineering processes, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and verification/validation activities throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Drive high-impact growth initiatives by identifying opportunities for innovation, risk mitigation, and performance optimization in complex aerospace or defense systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, integration testing, and customer demonstrations to ensure seamless system delivery and compliance with industry standards like DO-178C and ARP4754A.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence within the team.

Summary

As a Sr Advanced Systems Engr here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for defining, executing the technical content by working with systems engineering team and customers. You will participate in all phases of program development and drive high impact growth projects. You will report directly to our Sr Systems Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering for complex aerospace, defense, or industrial systems (experience)
  • Proven track record in requirements definition, system integration, and verification/validation processes (experience)
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, or MATLAB/Simulink (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship due to ITAR and EAR export control requirements (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related field (experience)
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification or equivalent (experience)
  • Experience with agile systems engineering methodologies and digital engineering practices (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage system requirements, architectures, and interfaces through collaboration with customers, program managers, and engineering disciplines
  • Lead technical execution of systems engineering tasks, including trade studies, risk assessments, and failure modes analysis (FMEA)
  • Develop and maintain system models using MBSE tools to support simulation, analysis, and digital twin development
  • Conduct integration, verification, and validation activities to ensure system performance meets contractual and regulatory standards
  • Drive high-impact growth projects by proposing innovative solutions and participating in proposal development for new business opportunities
  • Facilitate design reviews, gate reviews, and customer briefings to align on technical progress and resolve issues
  • Mentor and guide junior systems engineers while contributing to process improvements and knowledge sharing
