We are seeking a strategic and influential Senior Director of Government Relations to shape and execute Honeywell's government relations strategy for our Engines & Power Systems (EPS) and Services & Connectivity (S&C) businesses within Aerospace Technologies. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Government Relations for Aerospace Technologies, this role will lead high-impact engagements with key Congressional defense committees, including the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense, and related Member offices. The ideal candidate is a seasoned advocate with deep knowledge of defense policy, procurement processes, and aviation technologies, capable of building enduring relationships to advance Honeywell's interests in a complex legislative landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive government relations strategies tailored to EPS and S&C, aligning with Honeywell's business objectives and federal budget cycles.
  • Spearhead advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, including direct lobbying with Congressional staff, committee members, and leadership to influence defense authorization and appropriations bills.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key policymakers, DoD officials, and industry stakeholders to position Honeywell as a trusted partner in national security and aerospace innovation.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting engines, power systems, and connectivity solutions; provide timely intelligence and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with EPS/S&C business leaders, legal, and communications teams to craft policy positions, testimony, and grassroots campaigns.
  • Lead the preparation of briefings, white papers, and presentations to articulate Honeywell's value proposition in defense programs.
  • Manage external consultants, trade associations, and coalitions to amplify Honeywell's voice in Washington, DC.

  • Proven track record of engaging with Congressional defense committees (e.g., HASC, SASC, Defense Appropriations) (experience)
  • Deep understanding of U.S. defense acquisition processes, NDAA, and federal budgeting (experience)
  • Active registration under the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (JD, Master's in Public Policy, or MBA) (experience)
  • Prior military service or experience working in a DoD agency or Congressional office (experience)
  • Existing network within DoD, FAA, or key defense trade associations (e.g., NDIA, AIA) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute targeted advocacy campaigns to secure funding and policy support for EPS and S&C products in defense budgets
  • Lead direct engagements and briefings with Members of Congress, committee staff, and DoD personnel on Honeywell's propulsion and power technologies
  • Analyze pending legislation and regulations, developing position papers and amendment strategies to protect business interests
  • Foster coalitions with industry partners to advance shared priorities in aviation and defense policy
  • Provide strategic counsel to Aerospace Technologies leadership on government affairs risks and opportunities
  • Oversee grassroots mobilization efforts involving Honeywell employees and stakeholders
  • Track and report on key metrics for government relations success, including bill passages and funding wins
