Key Responsibilities

  • Lead finite element analysis (FEA) and stress analysis for complex mechanical components, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as MIL-STD and FAA regulations.
  • Mentor and manage a team of 5-10 mechanical design engineers, fostering skill development and high-performance culture.
  • Develop and validate stress models using tools like ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Abaqus to predict fatigue, vibration, and thermal stresses.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet aggressive delivery timelines without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to integrate stress analysis into product lifecycle.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analyses (FMEA) to mitigate potential issues early in development.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on material selection, optimization, and certification processes for high-reliability components.

  • Proven expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Abaqus (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with aerospace or defense industry standards (e.g., FAA, MIL-STD, AS9100) (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering teams, projects, budgets, and timelines (experience)
  • U.S. Person status (citizen or permanent resident) due to ITAR/EAR compliance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification in NDT/Stress Analysis (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell products or similar high-reliability aerospace systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced linear and nonlinear stress, vibration, and thermal analyses on mechanical structures and components
  • Lead a team in developing and validating FEA models for static, dynamic, and fatigue loading conditions
  • Manage project deliverables, including technical reports, design reviews, and certification documentation
  • Optimize designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency, and manufacturability while meeting performance specs
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve stress-related design issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct training on best practices in stress analysis methodologies
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for field failures or test discrepancies
