Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement embedded software for real-time control systems using C++ and model-based design tools.
  • Integrate control algorithms with hardware platforms, including PLCs, microcontrollers, and sensors.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and validation of control logic to ensure reliability in safety-critical environments.
  • Optimize software performance for low-latency operations in industrial IoT applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, firmware developers, and product managers, to define requirements and resolve issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews, documentation, and agile processes.
  • Support deployment and troubleshooting of control systems in field applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development for control systems or embedded systems (experience)
  • Proven experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded C/C++ programming (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with control theory, PID controllers, and model-based design (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) (experience)
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, or EtherCAT (experience)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering reliable software in production environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (experience)
  • Certifications in embedded systems (e.g., ARM, MISRA C) or industrial automation (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician) (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell-specific tools or platforms like Experion PKS or ControlEdge (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable control software for distributed systems in building automation and industrial processes
  • Develop and tune advanced control algorithms, including feedback loops and state machines, for optimal system performance
  • Perform rigorous testing and simulation of control systems under various fault conditions to meet functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508)
  • Integrate software with hardware peripherals, including actuators, sensors, and HMIs, ensuring seamless interoperability
  • Lead debugging and root-cause analysis for complex software-hardware interactions in real-time environments
  • Document designs, APIs, and test procedures to support maintainability and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate on agile sprints to deliver incremental features and participate in design reviews for system-level improvements
