Sr Account Manager - Refinery Sales

Honeywell, a Fortune 100 company and global leader in innovative solutions for aerospace, building technologies, performance materials, and safety & productivity, is seeking a dynamic Sr Account Manager to drive sales growth in the refinery sector. This hybrid role is based in Takeshiba, Tokyo, offering the flexibility to blend office collaboration with remote work.

Overview

Join Honeywell's Energy and Sustainability Solutions (ESS) division to manage key accounts in the refinery industry. You will cultivate strategic relationships with major oil & gas refineries across international markets, promoting Honeywell's advanced automation, process control systems, and sustainability technologies. This position reports to the Regional Sales Director and plays a pivotal role in expanding market share in Asia-Pacific and beyond, leveraging Honeywell's cutting-edge portfolio to help clients optimize operations, reduce emissions, and achieve energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute account strategies to achieve sales targets, identifying opportunities for Honeywell's refinery solutions such as distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), and advanced process control (APC).
  • Build and maintain C-level relationships with refinery executives, conducting needs assessments and delivering tailored value propositions.
  • Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting and RFPs to contract negotiation and closure, collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering and product management.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer pain points in refining processes to position Honeywell as the preferred partner.
  • Drive upsell and cross-sell initiatives, achieving quarterly and annual revenue goals while ensuring high customer satisfaction (NPS > 80).
  • Coordinate with global Honeywell teams to deliver customized demos, proofs-of-concept, and post-sale support for seamless implementation.
  • Report sales pipeline, forecasts, and performance metrics using CRM tools like Salesforce.

  • Deep knowledge of refinery processes, including crude distillation, hydrocracking, and catalytic reforming (experience)
  • Experience managing large enterprise accounts ($5M+ annual revenue potential) (experience)
  • Proficiency in CRM systems such as Salesforce or similar (experience)
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Engineering (experience)
  • Certifications in sales (e.g., Challenger Sale) or industry-specific (e.g., API standards) (experience)
  • Fluency in Japanese and English; additional languages (Mandarin, Korean) a plus (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and penetrate key refinery accounts to uncover opportunities for Honeywell's automation and control solutions
  • Conduct technical sales presentations and ROI analyses to demonstrate value in process optimization and safety enhancements
  • Negotiate complex contracts, pricing, and terms to secure multi-year deals
  • Collaborate with Honeywell's engineering and service teams to develop customized proposals and ensure project success
  • Monitor account health through regular business reviews and implement retention strategies
  • Leverage market intelligence to forecast sales pipelines and contribute to regional strategy
  • Mentor junior sales staff and represent Honeywell at industry conferences
