Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement embedded software for real-time systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and SoCs.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers, firmware, and RTOS-based applications for resource-constrained environments.
  • Perform hardware-software integration, optimization, and validation to ensure compliance with safety standards like DO-178C and MISRA.
  • Lead design reviews, code analysis, and unit testing using tools like VectorCAST and LDRA.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers to define requirements and resolve complex issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in embedded development methodologies.
  • Investigate emerging technologies such as ARM Cortex, secure boot, and edge AI to enhance product capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven expertise in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, STM32, NXP) (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing, debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes), and static analysis (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems or related field (experience)
  • Certifications in embedded security (e.g., PSA Certified) or functional safety (e.g., ISTQB) (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace standards (DO-178C, ARP4754A) or industrial IoT protocols (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded firmware for safety-critical applications using model-based design tools like MATLAB/Simulink
  • Optimize code for power efficiency, performance, and memory constraints in resource-limited environments
  • Lead integration and verification of embedded systems, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Conduct peer code reviews, static/dynamic analysis, and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in multi-threaded, real-time embedded environments
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define board bring-up procedures and peripheral drivers
  • Document designs, create technical reports, and support product certification processes
