Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement advanced embedded software for real-time systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and ARM-based processors.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers, firmware, and RTOS-based applications for safety-critical environments (e.g., DO-178C compliant).
  • Perform hardware-software integration, optimization for power, performance, and reliability in resource-constrained environments.
  • Lead design reviews, unit testing, and validation using tools like JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and automated test frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers to define requirements and resolve complex issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in embedded development, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in IoT, edge computing, and secure embedded systems to innovate Honeywell's product roadmap.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven expertise in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, STM32) (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing, debugging, and certification standards (e.g., MISRA, DO-178) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (experience)
  • Certifications in embedded development (e.g., ARM Accredited Engineer, ISTQB) (experience)
  • Experience with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) and secure boot mechanisms (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded firmware for safety-critical applications using C/C++ and RTOS
  • Implement and optimize low-level drivers for sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces
  • Lead integration and validation of hardware-software systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Conduct code reviews, static analysis, and unit/integration testing to achieve high code coverage
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems using advanced debugging tools
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define interfaces and support board bring-up activities
  • Document designs, contribute to technical specifications, and mentor team members on best practices
