Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement real-time embedded software for microcontrollers and DSPs used in avionics, building controls, and performance materials.
  • Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to testing, integration, and deployment on resource-constrained hardware.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers, firmware, and RTOS-based applications using C/C++ and assembly languages.
  • Perform hardware-software integration, optimization for power, performance, and reliability, and conduct rigorous unit/integration testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers to ensure seamless system performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to best practices in embedded software engineering.
  • Investigate and resolve complex embedded system issues in production environments, ensuring compliance with safety standards like DO-178C and MISRA.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognized university (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven expertise in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, PIC, etc.) and RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or VxWorks) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems concepts including interrupts, memory management, and peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) (experience)
  • Experience with debugging tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers (experience)
  • Familiarity with safety-critical standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, or MISRA C (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications in embedded systems (e.g., ARM Accredited Engineer) or RTOS (experience)
  • Experience with model-based development tools like MATLAB/Simulink or AUTOSAR (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded firmware and drivers for safety-critical applications in aerospace and industrial domains
  • Lead requirements analysis, system design, and implementation of real-time embedded software solutions
  • Optimize code for performance, power efficiency, and deterministic behavior on constrained hardware platforms
  • Conduct comprehensive testing including unit tests, integration tests, and hardware-in-the-loop simulations
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define interfaces and resolve integration challenges
  • Perform root cause analysis and debugging of complex firmware issues in lab and field environments
  • Document designs, generate compliance reports, and mentor team members on embedded best practices
