Sr. Advanced Hardware Engineer

Location: Lincolnshire, IL (Hybrid)

Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced hardware architectures, including PCB layouts, FPGA implementations, and mixed-signal systems for mission-critical applications.
  • Lead the end-to-end hardware design process, from concept through prototyping, testing, and production release.
  • Conduct rigorous simulations, signal integrity analysis, and performance optimization to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, firmware developers, and systems architects, to integrate hardware solutions seamlessly.
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, performance enhancements, and scalability in hardware designs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee design reviews to maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.

As a Sr Advanced Hardware Engineer here at Honeywell, you will design, develop, and implement advanced hardware solutions, driving continuous improvement and high-performance products. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in advanced hardware design and development, preferably in aerospace, defense, or industrial automation (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading hardware projects from concept to production (experience)
  • Expertise in schematic capture, PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence), and hardware prototyping (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, RF/microwave design, and power electronics (experience)
  • Experience with design verification, including lab testing, EMI/EMC compliance, and failure analysis (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA, IPC CID, or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Experience with high-speed digital design, sensor integration, or real-time systems in regulated industries (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement complex hardware solutions using state-of-the-art components and methodologies
  • Perform detailed simulations and modeling using tools like SPICE, HFSS, or MATLAB for signal and power integrity
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis to ensure robust, reliable hardware
  • Integrate hardware with firmware and software ecosystems, optimizing for performance and interoperability
  • Develop and execute test plans, including environmental testing, thermal analysis, and qualification protocols
  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to transition designs to high-volume production
  • Innovate continuously by researching emerging technologies and proposing improvements to existing products
