Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design advanced hardware systems for TCAS avionics, ensuring compliance with DO-254 DAL A standards and RTCA DO-160 environmental qualifications.
  • Lead hardware verification and validation testing, including simulation, bench testing, and flight qualification for surveillance systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems architects, and certification specialists, to integrate hardware solutions into next-gen aircraft platforms.
  • Develop and optimize FPGA-based designs and high-speed digital interfaces for real-time collision avoidance processing.
  • Conduct failure modes analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments to enhance system reliability in safety-critical environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps for Honeywell's avionics portfolio.

  • Hands-on experience with TCAS, ADS-B, or surveillance avionics hardware development (experience)
  • Familiarity with high-reliability hardware testing in environmental chambers and EMI/EMC labs (experience)
  • U.S. Person status (ITAR compliance) required for access to controlled technology (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certification in IPC-A-610 or AS9100 quality standards (experience)
  • Experience with ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, or AXIe interfaces in avionics (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype advanced hardware architectures for Next-Gen TCAS systems, including RF transceivers and digital signal processors
  • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and integration testing using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
  • Perform system-level trade studies and requirements traceability from concept to certification
  • Collaborate with FAA/DERs to ensure hardware meets airworthiness certification requirements
  • Develop test plans and procedures for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and flight testing
  • Analyze field data from avionics deployments to drive continuous hardware improvements
  • Document designs per ASME Y14.100 and contribute to patentable innovations
