Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain advanced IC CAD flows for layout, verification, and physical design using tools like Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys IC Compiler, and Mentor Graphics Calibre.
  • Lead the implementation of custom IC designs, including floorplanning, place-and-route, and DRC/LVS verification for complex SoCs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, process teams, and fabrication partners, to optimize PDKs and resolve design challenges.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in EDA tool integration and automation scripting.
  • Perform analog/mixed-signal layout optimization for high-frequency and low-power circuits, ensuring compliance with aerospace reliability standards.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot CAD tool performance issues, developing custom scripts in SKILL, Python, or Tcl to streamline workflows.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps by evaluating emerging EDA tools and methodologies for next-generation IC development.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IC CAD/EDA tool development and physical design for integrated circuits (experience)
  • Proven expertise in analog and digital IC layout methodologies using Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics tools (experience)
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor process technologies (e.g., FinFET, CMOS) and PDK integration (experience)
  • Experience with DRC, LVS, and parasitic extraction for advanced nodes (7nm or below) (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead CAD flow development and automation in a production environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with focus on VLSI design (experience)
  • Certifications in EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Certified Specialist) (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace or defense IC design, including rad-hard or high-reliability standards (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize IC CAD flows for schematic capture, layout, and verification using industry-standard EDA tools
  • Lead physical design activities including floorplanning, power grid design, clock tree synthesis, and routing for complex ICs
  • Develop and debug custom automation scripts in Python, Tcl, or SKILL to enhance CAD productivity and reduce turnaround time
  • Collaborate with fabrication foundries to validate PDKs and ensure design rule compliance across process nodes
  • Perform detailed analysis of layout parasitics, timing closure, and signal integrity for high-performance circuits
  • Mentor and train team members on advanced CAD methodologies and best practices
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging EDA technologies to support Honeywell's IC roadmap
