In this role, you will provide expert technical leadership in materials and process engineering for forged products, contributing to innovative aerospace and industrial solutions. Reporting to the Sr Engineering Manager, you will thrive in a hybrid work environment that balances collaboration and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and optimization of mechanical components using advanced forged materials, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • Develop and validate materials selection processes for high-stress forged products, performing finite element analysis (FEA) and fatigue testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to integrate design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on material failures and implement corrective actions to enhance product reliability and performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives in forging processes and metallurgy.
  • Interface with suppliers to qualify new materials and processes, supporting qualification testing and certification.

Summary

As a Sr Advanced Mech Desing Engr, you will provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of forged product. Work as part of a highly engaged and integrated Materials Engineering team. You will work out of the Phoenix, AZ facility, on a Hybrid Work schedule, and will report to the Sr Engineering Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering with a focus on forged products and materials engineering (experience)
  • Proven expertise in forging processes, metallurgy, and heat treatment for aerospace applications (experience)
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards including AMS specifications, ASTM, and aerospace quality requirements (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science (experience)
  • NADCAP Auditor certification or experience in aerospace materials auditing (experience)
  • 10+ years in aerospace forging design and process development (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in materials selection and process engineering for forged aerospace components
  • Perform detailed mechanical design simulations, stress analysis, and validation testing using FEA and physical prototyping
  • Lead failure investigations and implement design improvements to enhance durability and performance
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize forging processes, tooling design, and production scalability
  • Develop and document engineering specifications, test plans, and qualification reports for forged products
  • Mentor team members and contribute to R&D projects for next-generation materials and designs
  • Support supplier qualification and audit processes to ensure material and process compliance
