This on-site role in our state-of-the-art facility will focus on enhancing refinery processes through advanced simulation tools and seamless integration of hydrocarbon accounting systems. As a key contributor, you will leverage Belsim Vali software to drive process optimization, improve operational efficiency, and deliver measurable results in the oil & gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced process simulation models using Belsim Vali for refinery optimization, heat integration, and energy efficiency improvements.
- Integrate simulation tools with hydrocarbon accounting systems to ensure accurate mass and energy balance reconciliation across complex refinery operations.
- Lead validation and calibration of thermodynamic models, troubleshooting discrepancies, and providing actionable insights to process engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process engineers, automation specialists, and data scientists to implement digital twin solutions for real-time refinery monitoring.
- Conduct performance analysis, root cause investigations, and optimization studies to reduce operational costs and emissions in refining processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices for simulation-driven engineering workflows.

- Strong programming skills in Python, Fortran, or C++ for custom simulation extensions (experience)
- Experience with refinery process optimization and digital twin implementations (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering (experience)
- Certifications in process simulation tools (e.g., Belsim Vali, AspenTech) or API standards (experience)
- Experience with real-time optimization (RTO) and advanced process control (APC) systems (experience)
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced thermodynamic models using Belsim Vali for refinery heat exchanger networks and crude distillation units
- Integrate simulation outputs with enterprise hydrocarbon accounting platforms to automate reconciliation and reporting
- Perform model validation against plant data, calibrate parameters, and resolve simulation-plant discrepancies
- Lead multidisciplinary projects to deploy simulation-based optimization strategies reducing energy consumption by 5-10%
- Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks and recommend automation solutions for improved throughput
- Document simulation methodologies, create user guides, and train stakeholders on tool usage
