Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and verification of advanced flight control systems, including actuators, sensors, and control laws for next-generation aircraft.
  • Manage cross-functional project portfolios, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Conduct systems engineering analyses such as requirements traceability, trade studies, and failure modes effects analysis (FMEA) for DO-178C and DO-254 compliance.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and certification teams to integrate flight control systems into full vehicle architectures.
  • Drive innovation through research into emerging technologies like model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and adaptive control algorithms.

  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering for aerospace or avionics applications (experience)
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects (experience)
  • Deep knowledge of flight control systems, including fly-by-wire architectures and control theory (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and ARP4761 (experience)
  • U.S. Person status due to ITAR/EAR export control requirements (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE CSEP) or PMP (experience)
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or Cameo Systems Modeler for MBSE (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle development of flight control systems from concept through certification and deployment
  • Perform systems requirements definition, allocation, and verification using tools like DOORS or Polarion
  • Conduct trade studies and risk assessments to optimize system performance, reliability, and cost
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
  • Integrate flight control software and hardware, supporting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and iron bird testing
  • Develop and maintain project plans, ensuring compliance with Honeywell gates and customer milestones
  • Innovate on advanced concepts like autonomous flight controls and fault-tolerant architectures
