Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the systems engineering lifecycle for TCAS avionics, from concept through certification and deployment.
  • Develop and validate advanced algorithms for collision avoidance and surveillance in complex airspace environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and certification engineers to integrate TCAS systems.
  • Perform requirements analysis, trade studies, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and RTCA DO-178C/DO-254 standards.
  • Conduct simulations, modeling, and testing using tools like MATLAB/Simulink to verify system performance under real-world scenarios.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, working out of either our Phoenix, AZ OR Redmond, WA locations on a Hybrid work schedule.

  • Proven experience with systems development lifecycle (SDLC) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of aviation standards including DO-178C, DO-254, ARINC 429/664, and RTCA DO-185B (experience)
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS NextGen or Polarion (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR regulations (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE CSEP) or avionics-specific credentials (experience)
  • Experience with ADS-B, multilateration surveillance, or next-gen airspace concepts like SESAR/NextGen (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design TCAS system architectures, including sensor fusion and threat detection algorithms
  • Lead system-level integration, verification, and validation activities for avionics hardware/software
  • Conduct trade studies and performance modeling to optimize TCAS functionality in dense traffic scenarios
  • Interface with regulatory authorities (FAA/EASA) to support certification artifacts and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and implement design improvements
  • Develop test plans, execute simulations, and analyze data using tools like MATLAB/Simulink and Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers while contributing to proposal development for new avionics programs
