We are seeking a Sr Certification Engineer Manager to join our Aerospace Certification team. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee certification strategies for complex avionics, propulsion, and airframe systems, ensuring compliance with FAA, EASA, and other global regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Certification, you will manage a team of engineers driving the certification lifecycle for next-generation aircraft technologies, from design validation to type certification approval. This hybrid position offers flexibility with occasional travel to testing facilities and customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead certification planning and execution for aerospace products, developing compliance plans aligned with 14 CFR Part 25, CS-25, and ARP4754A/4761 standards.
  • Manage a team of 8-12 certification engineers, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and resource allocation to meet project milestones.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities (FAA, EASA) to negotiate certification bases, means of compliance, and issue papers resolution.
  • Conduct risk assessments and oversee certification testing, including ground and flight tests, to validate system safety and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in certification processes, implementing digital tools like Honeywell's Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, test, and program management teams to integrate certification requirements early in the development cycle.
  • Prepare and present certification dossiers, reports, and briefings to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

  • Proven track record managing certification projects for FAA Part 25 or equivalent programs (experience)
  • Deep knowledge of aviation regulations including 14 CFR, EASA CS-25, ARP4754A, and DO-178C/DO-254 (experience)
  • Experience interfacing with regulatory authorities and resolving certification issues (experience)
  • Strong project management skills with ability to lead multidisciplinary teams (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or FAA DER (Designated Engineering Representative) authorization (experience)
  • Experience with certification of novel technologies like eVTOL or hybrid-electric systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive certification plans for aerospace systems, ensuring regulatory compliance from concept to service entry
  • Lead and mentor a team of certification engineers, fostering skill development and high performance
  • Negotiate with FAA/EASA on certification bases, means of compliance, and special conditions
