Sr Embedded Engineering Supervisor

Location: India | Workplace Type: Hybrid

We are seeking a dynamic Sr Embedded Engineering Supervisor to lead our embedded systems team in India. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge embedded software and hardware solutions for aerospace, industrial automation, and building technologies. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will drive innovation, mentor a high-performing team, and ensure delivery of robust, real-time embedded systems that meet rigorous safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 8-12 embedded engineers in the full lifecycle development of firmware for microcontrollers and SoCs used in safety-critical applications.
  • Architect and optimize embedded software using C/C++, RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks), and bare-metal programming for resource-constrained environments.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure compliance with DO-178C, MISRA, and ISO 26262 standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, systems, and quality assurance to integrate embedded solutions into larger product ecosystems.
  • Mentor and develop team members through technical guidance, performance evaluations, and career development plans.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources using Agile/Scrum methodologies to deliver on time and within scope.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including adoption of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and embedded security best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from a recognized university (experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role (experience)
  • Proven track record of delivering embedded firmware for real-time applications in aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Hands-on expertise in embedded C/C++, RTOS, and microcontroller programming (ARM Cortex, PIC, etc.) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing tools like JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and unit testing frameworks (experience)
  • Strong understanding of hardware-software integration and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical standards (DO-178C, IEC 61508) and Agile leadership in global teams (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of embedded engineers, conducting regular performance reviews and fostering skill development
  • Design and implement scalable embedded software architectures for low-power, real-time systems
  • Lead debugging and optimization efforts to achieve high reliability and performance in constrained environments
  • Coordinate with hardware and systems teams to define interfaces and resolve integration issues
  • Oversee requirement analysis, design documentation, and traceability for compliance with industry standards
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment of embedded firmware
  • Drive risk assessments, FMEA analysis, and innovation in embedded security features
