Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of embedded software and firmware for real-time systems using C/C++ and RTOS.
  • Supervise a team of 5-10 engineers, providing mentorship, performance reviews, and career development guidance.
  • Architect low-level drivers, communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, I2C), and hardware-software integration solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, product managers, and quality assurance to deliver scalable embedded solutions.
  • Drive innovation in edge computing, IoT security, and power-efficient embedded applications aligned with industry standards like MISRA and ISO 26262.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation to ensure on-time delivery of complex embedded projects.

Skills Required

  • Expertise in C/C++ for embedded systemsintermediate
  • Proficiency in RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, QNX) and embedded Linuxintermediate

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from a recognized university (experience)
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • 5+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in embedded engineering projects (experience)
  • Proven track record of delivering embedded products from concept to production (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware architectures (ARM, Microcontrollers, SoCs) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks), and bare-metal programming (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial IoT domains with safety-critical systems (e.g., DO-178C, ASIL) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle development of embedded firmware, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and verification
  • Mentor and supervise embedded engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
  • Develop and optimize low-level drivers, bootloaders, and communication stacks for resource-constrained devices
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and performance profiling using tools like oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and static analyzers
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and wireless modules into embedded platforms
  • Implement cybersecurity features such as secure boot, encryption, and OTA updates for IoT-enabled devices
  • Drive continuous improvement through agile methodologies, automation, and adoption of modern embedded toolchains
