Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end estimation process for multi-million-dollar projects, including conceptual, definitive, and control estimates using industry-standard methodologies like AACEI guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) teams, and clients to gather data, assess risks, and refine cost models for accuracy within ±10% tolerances.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, labor hour projections, and material pricing analyses using tools such as Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Cleopatra Enterprise, or Excel-based parametric models.
  • Conduct risk assessments, Monte Carlo simulations, and benchmarking against historical data to mitigate uncertainties and optimize bid competitiveness.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including cost breakdowns, narratives, and contingency analyses, to support executive decision-making and contract negotiations.
  • Mentor junior estimators, standardize estimation templates, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for process efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field (experience)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in cost estimating for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or Pulp & Paper projects (experience)
  • Proven track record delivering estimates for EPC projects valued at $50M+ (experience)
  • Proficiency in estimation software such as AspenTech, Cleopatra, or Quest (experience)
  • Strong understanding of AACEI or similar cost engineering standards (experience)
  • Experience with hybrid project delivery models in the US market (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration (experience)
  • Professional certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Professional Estimator (P.Eng) (experience)
  • 10+ years in senior estimating roles with exposure to LNG, refining, or renewable energy projects (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of project estimates from inception through bid submission and post-award validation
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and productivity analyses for piping, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
  • Analyze market trends, supplier quotes, and escalation factors to build robust unit rate databases
  • Facilitate estimate reviews with stakeholders, resolving discrepancies and aligning on assumptions
  • Integrate probabilistic risk modeling to quantify uncertainties and recommend contingencies
  • Support value engineering exercises to enhance bid competitiveness without compromising quality
  • Document lessons learned and update estimating databases for organizational knowledge sharing
