Reporting directly to the Field Service Manager, you'll troubleshoot complex issues, perform preventive maintenance, and train customers and junior technicians to ensure peak system performance and compliance with NFPA standards. Based out of our Cincinnati location with a hybrid schedule, this role combines hands-on fieldwork with collaborative office-based planning, driving customer satisfaction and safety in critical environments like commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and healthcare settings. Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions in fire alarm control panels, detection devices, and notification appliances using advanced diagnostic tools and Honeywell proprietary software.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inspections, testing systems for functionality, battery integrity, and signal transmission per UL and local fire codes.
  • Train customers and junior technicians on system operation, troubleshooting techniques, and compliance requirements to enhance operational reliability.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, as-built drawings, and documentation using digital tools like ServiceMax for accurate record-keeping and billing.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project teams to support system upgrades, retrofits, and integration with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Ensure personal and team safety by adhering to OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and Honeywell's safety protocols during all field activities.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, Honeywell ESS) (experience)
  • Valid NICET Level II or III certification in Fire Alarm Systems (experience)
  • Experience with low-voltage electrical systems, PLCs, and fire alarm programming (experience)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within the region and possess a valid driver's license (experience)
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and fire alarm riser diagrams (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level IV certification or manufacturer's factory training (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens) (experience)
  • Experience with integrated building management systems (BACnet, Modbus) (experience)
  • Prior leadership experience mentoring junior technicians (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of fire alarm panels, initiating devices, and voice evacuation systems to minimize downtime
  • Execute full system inspections, functional testing, and certification per NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements
  • Install, program, and commission new fire alarm equipment, including addressable and conventional systems
  • Mentor and train entry-level technicians and end-users on system maintenance and emergency procedures
  • Generate accurate service reports, quotes for upgrades, and compliance documentation using mobile service applications
  • Coordinate with project managers for system expansions and ensure seamless integration with suppression and security systems
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and PPE to uphold Honeywell's service excellence standards
