Senior Mechanical Engineering Supervisor

Location: International (Hybrid Workplace)

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will supervise a team of engineers in a hybrid work environment, fostering collaboration across global sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams in analyzing current product designs and supply chains to identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing and redesign.
  • Supervise the qualification and validation of new suppliers and components, ensuring compliance with Honeywell's rigorous quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Develop and execute redesign projects using CAD tools and simulation software to reduce material costs, assembly time, and manufacturing complexity.
  • Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to implement cost reduction strategies and monitor their impact on product lifecycle costs.
  • Mentor and manage a team of 5-10 mechanical engineers, conducting performance reviews, providing technical guidance, and driving professional development.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses, prepare executive reports, and present recommendations to senior leadership to secure project approvals.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including ISO standards and aerospace/defense specifications where applicable.

  • Proven track record in cost reduction projects for electronic and mechanical components/products (experience)
  • Experience with supplier qualification, redesign for manufacturability (DFM), and value engineering (experience)
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, FEA) (experience)
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% for supplier audits and project implementations (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or MBA (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Six Sigma Black Belt certification (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing industries (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify alternative sources for mechanical and electronic components to achieve 10-20% cost reductions
  • Lead product redesign initiatives using DFM/DFA principles to optimize for cost, weight, and performance
  • Supervise engineering team in executing cost-saving projects from concept to production implementation
  • Perform detailed cost analyses, teardown studies, and benchmarking against industry standards
  • Collaborate with global supply chain teams to negotiate with suppliers and integrate new components
  • Develop and track KPIs for cost reduction programs, reporting progress to senior management
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory compliance, reliability targets, and Honeywell quality management systems
