Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of advanced conveyor systems using CAD software and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Manage cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery within budget constraints, mitigating risks through proactive planning.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering innovation in mechanical design for high-throughput material handling.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to transition designs from concept to production.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, prototype testing, and performance validation to meet stringent safety and efficiency standards.

Summary

As a Sr Advanced Mech Design Engr here at Honeywell, you will lead a team of mechanical design engineers to develop high-quality products, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and provide technical guidance. You will report directly to our Manager and you’ll work out of our Mason, OH location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university (experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 3 years focused on conveyor systems or material handling equipment (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in product development projects (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) (experience)
  • Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and resources in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (experience)
  • Strong understanding of ASME standards, GD&T, and mechanical fabrication processes (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (experience)
  • Experience with automation systems integration, including PLC controls and robotics (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design and detailed engineering of conveyor systems, including belt, roller, and sortation mechanisms
  • Perform structural analysis, kinematic simulations, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure design robustness and performance
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical components under real-world loading conditions
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve design conflicts and optimize for manufacturability and assembly
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers using tools like MS Project or Jira
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on best practices in mechanical design and Honeywell engineering processes
  • Implement design improvements based on field data, customer feedback, and failure mode analysis
