Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of advanced conveyor systems, including belt, roller, and sortation technologies, using CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for multiple concurrent development programs, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analyses, and failure mode assessments to optimize mechanical designs for performance, durability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers, to integrate conveyor systems into full automation solutions.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of designs in real-world environments, iterating based on test data and customer feedback.

As a Sr Advanced Mech Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will lead a team of mechanical design engineers to develop high-quality products, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and provide technical guidance. You will report directly to our Manager and you’ll work out of our Mason, OH location on a Hybrid work schedule.

  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and projects in a product development environment (experience)
  • Expertise in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools (experience)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and structural analysis (experience)
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) in high-volume production settings (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Six Sigma certification (experience)
  • Experience with automation systems integration, including PLC controls and robotics (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design, detailed engineering, and optimization of conveyor systems using advanced CAD and simulation software
  • Manage cross-functional project teams to deliver products on time, within budget, and to quality specifications
  • Mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers, conducting performance reviews and technical training sessions
  • Perform root cause analysis on design issues and implement corrective actions to enhance system reliability
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless transition from design to production
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and design validation reports
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in material handling and automation, incorporating emerging technologies into product roadmaps
