Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of advanced conveyor systems, including belt, roller, and sortation technologies, using CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for multiple concurrent development programs, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to a team of 5-10 engineers, conducting design reviews and fostering innovation.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA), kinematic simulations, and tolerance stack-ups to optimize mechanical designs for durability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, to integrate conveyor systems into full automation solutions.
  • Conduct prototype testing, root cause analysis, and implement design improvements based on field data and customer feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO, ASME, and OSHA for safety and reliability.

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 3 years focused on conveyor systems or material handling equipment (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in product development projects (experience)
  • Expertise in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) and simulation tools (ANSYS, Adams) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, welding, and machining (experience)
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, and resources in a fast-paced environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Six Sigma certification (experience)
  • Experience with automation systems integration, including PLC controls and robotics (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design, detailed engineering, and prototyping of conveyor systems optimized for high-throughput logistics applications
  • Mentor and develop a team of mechanical engineers, conducting performance reviews and technical training sessions
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using tools like MS Project or Jira, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Perform structural and dynamic analyses using FEA and motion simulation to validate designs under real-world loads
  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and scalable for production
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying DFMEA and design for manufacturability principles
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements and present design solutions
