Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of advanced conveyor systems, including belt, roller, and sortation technologies, using CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for multiple concurrent development programs, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to a team of 5-10 mechanical engineers, fostering innovation and skill development.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analyses, and failure mode assessments (FMEA) to optimize designs for durability, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to integrate conveyor systems into full automation solutions.
  • Support prototype building, testing, and validation in lab and field environments, iterating designs based on performance data.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product reliability and reduce time-to-market.

  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including dynamics, kinematics, and structural analysis for heavy-duty applications (experience)
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) in high-volume production (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification (experience)
  • Experience with automation systems integration, robotics, or Industry 4.0 technologies (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design, modeling, and detailing of conveyor systems using advanced CAD and simulation tools
  • Manage full product lifecycle from requirements gathering through prototyping, testing, and production ramp-up
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, conducting performance reviews and technical training sessions
  • Perform stress analysis, vibration testing, and safety compliance assessments to meet industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO)
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and ensure component quality
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, drawings, and engineering change orders
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising product integrity
