Systems Engineer I

Location: Phoenix, AZ (International opportunities available) | Workplace: Hybrid

Reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, you’ll work out of our state-of-the-art facility in Phoenix, Arizona, on a hybrid schedule that balances collaboration with flexibility. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop system architectures for embedded systems, integrating hardware and software components to meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
  • Implement and test system prototypes using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Manage system lifecycle processes, from requirements gathering and traceability to verification, validation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, hardware designers, and quality assurance to resolve integration issues and optimize system performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and ensure compliance with industry regulations such as DO-178C and DO-254.
  • Document system designs, generate technical reports, and support customer reviews and demonstrations.
  • Monitor and maintain deployed systems, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for optimal efficiency.

  • Experience with requirements management and verification processes (experience)
  • Familiarity with industry standards including MIL-STD-498, ARP4754A, or equivalent (experience)
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if required for specific projects (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related field (experience)
  • INCOSE certification (e.g., ASEP or CSEP) (experience)
  • Experience with agile methodologies in systems development (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems or real-time operating systems (RTOS) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system requirements specifications using tools like IBM DOORS Next Generation
  • Perform system integration testing and debug complex multi-disciplinary systems
  • Lead trade studies and design reviews to evaluate system alternatives and select optimal solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system interfaces and ensure interoperability
  • Analyze system performance data and implement improvements for reliability and efficiency
  • Support proposal development by contributing to technical sections and cost estimates
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
