Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system architectures, requirements, and models using tools like SysML and DOORS for multi-disciplinary systems.
  • Perform system-level integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) activities to ensure compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262.
  • Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and failure modes effects analysis (FMEA) to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and firmware engineers to resolve integration issues and deliver robust solutions.
  • Support product lifecycle management from concept through deployment, including documentation and customer handoff.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements in systems engineering methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or industrial automation sectors (experience)
  • Proven experience with systems modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MATLAB/Simulink, or Enterprise Architect (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools like IBM DOORS or Polarion (experience)
  • Familiarity with systems engineering standards (e.g., INCOSE, ARP4754A, ARP4761) (experience)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to handle complex, multi-domain systems (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent certification (experience)
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital twin technologies (experience)
  • Prior work on safety-critical systems in regulated industries (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect complex electromechanical or software-intensive systems using model-based engineering practices
  • Lead requirements elicitation, analysis, and traceability from system-level to subsystem specifications
  • Execute system integration testing, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and fault injection
  • Perform design verification through analysis, simulation, and formal testing to meet performance and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system interfaces, allocate functions, and manage change control processes
  • Develop technical documentation including system design descriptions, test plans, and compliance reports
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools adoption across the team
