Position Summary
The HR Field Operations Generalist plays a pivotal role reporting to the Field Human Resources Manager. Based across Chesterfield and Bradford, you'll be the go-to HR expert for site employees and managers, handling everything from recruitment and employee relations to policy implementation and reporting. This dynamic role offers the chance to drive HR initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while building strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
As HR Field Operations Generalist at Sonoco, your impact will include:
- Managing full employee relations cases, absence policies, and long-term absences with occupational health referrals.
- Coaching line managers on disciplinaries, grievances, and delivering policy training.
- Leading end-to-end recruitment, onboarding (including audio testing/driver assessments), probation reviews, and apprenticeship support.
- Producing insightful HR KPIs on turnover, sickness, diversity, and more.
- Supporting payroll, audits, wellbeing initiatives, union relations, and talent management.
- Maintaining HR systems and driving engagement on site.
Required Qualifications
To succeed, you'll bring:
- CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent/working towards).
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and recruitment processes.
- Proactive mindset, excellent communication, commercial awareness in manufacturing, and union experience.
