Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of HubSpot's Commerce platform, enabling seamless buying experiences for inbound marketing customers
• Build and optimize scalable backend services for payments, subscriptions, and e-commerce workflows integrated with HubSpot CRM
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative commerce features that drive customer growth
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering HubSpot's culture of transparency, experimentation, and high performance
• Drive technical excellence by implementing best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
• Integrate third-party services (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) with HubSpot's ecosystem to enhance commerce capabilities
• Analyze and improve system performance, reliability, and security for high-volume transactional data
• Champion inbound methodology in engineering by using data-driven insights to iterate on commerce solutions
• Contribute to strategic roadmaps for Commerce Hub, aligning with HubSpot's mission to help businesses grow better
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing within the Engineering organization

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in backend or full-stack development
• Deep expertise in building scalable commerce platforms, payment systems, or e-commerce solutions
• Proven track record of leading technical projects in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments
• Strong experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and microservices
• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and drive engineering best practices
• Experience integrating with CRM systems like HubSpot or Salesforce

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with HubSpot's CRM API or inbound marketing integrations
• Background in fintech, SaaS commerce, or subscription billing systems (e.g., Stripe, Chargebee)
• Contributions to open-source projects in commerce or payments domain
• Familiarity with HubSpot's growth culture and customer-centric product development

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java, Go, or Python for backend development
• Proficiency in React, Node.js, or similar for full-stack capabilities
• Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis)
• Strong understanding of payment processing, PCI compliance, and fraud prevention
• Cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform)
• CRM integration and data modeling for marketing/sales workflows
• Test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks
• Leadership and mentorship in agile, growth-oriented teams
• Problem-solving in high-scale, mission-critical systems
• Communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and sales
• Adaptability to HubSpot's fast-paced, customer-obsessed culture
• Data analysis and optimization for performance tuning
• Security best practices for commerce and financial systems
• Familiarity with inbound marketing principles and growth hacking
