Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering HubSpot's CRM and inbound marketing platform
• Develop high-performance APIs and microservices to support millions of users and high-volume data processing
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists to deliver customer-facing features
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability for global inbound marketing workflows
• Lead code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making for engineering teams
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to HubSpot's culture of continuous learning and innovation
• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure 99.99% uptime for critical services
• Integrate third-party services and data pipelines to enhance CRM personalization and automation
• Drive technical initiatives aligned with HubSpot's HEART values (Humble, Empathetic, Adaptable, Remarkable, Transparent)
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain production systems and resolve incidents swiftly
• Experiment with new technologies to accelerate growth in HubSpot's inbound methodology tools

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on backend development
• Deep expertise in building scalable backend systems using languages like Java, Python, or Go
• Proven track record of designing and optimizing high-performance APIs and microservices in a cloud environment
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with CRM platforms or inbound marketing tools
• Familiarity with HubSpot's ecosystem or similar SaaS products
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Contributions to open-source projects or technical blogging
• Experience with AWS or GCP cloud services
• Prior leadership in agile teams using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
