Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that power HubSpot's CRM and inbound marketing platform
• Lead the development of high-performance APIs to support millions of customer interactions daily
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver customer-centric features
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability to handle explosive growth
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence
• Architect microservices and integrate with cloud-native technologies to enhance platform resilience
• Drive technical initiatives aligned with HubSpot's HEART values (Humble, Empathetic, Adaptable, Remarkable, Transparent)
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement proactive monitoring solutions
• Contribute to the evolution of HubSpot's growth stack, enabling inbound marketing innovation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused on backend development
• Strong proficiency in building scalable backend systems using languages like Java, Python, or Go
• Deep experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Proven track record of designing and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with CRM systems or inbound marketing platforms
• Familiarity with HubSpot's ecosystem, APIs, or similar SaaS products
• Contributions to open-source projects or personal coding portfolios
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Prior experience in agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA in SaaS contexts
