Key Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and implement scalable backend services that power HubSpot's CRM and inbound marketing platform
• Lead technical initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and observability of core microservices
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists to deliver customer-centric features
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering HubSpot's HEARTWAY culture of humility, empathy, and accountability
• Optimize database schemas and queries to support high-volume inbound marketing campaigns and sales pipelines
• Drive innovation in real-time data synchronization across HubSpot's ecosystem of marketing, sales, and service hubs
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and champion security and compliance in backend systems
• Partner with growth teams to experiment with new features that accelerate customer inbound strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in distributed systems, ensuring 99.99% uptime for global users
• Contribute to technical roadmaps aligning with HubSpot's mission to help businesses grow better
• Build and maintain APIs that integrate seamlessly with third-party tools in the inbound ecosystem

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in backend development
• Deep expertise in building scalable, high-performance backend systems using languages like Java, Python, or Go
• Proven track record of leading complex projects in distributed systems and microservices architectures
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and drive technical decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and data modeling
• Solid understanding of CRM systems, APIs, and real-time data processing for customer-facing applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at a high-growth SaaS company like HubSpot, with exposure to inbound marketing tools
• Familiarity with HubSpot's CRM platform, marketing automation, or sales enablement features
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in backend engineering and scalability
• Advanced knowledge of event-driven architectures, Kafka, or similar streaming technologies
• Previous leadership in cross-functional teams collaborating on growth initiatives
• Experience optimizing systems for global scale, handling millions of API requests daily
