Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend services powering HubSpot's CRM and inbound marketing tools
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering technical growth
  • Architect scalable, high-performance systems to support millions of inbound marketing users
  • Collaborate with product managers, frontend teams, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements
  • Optimize database queries and system performance for low-latency CRM operations
  • Implement and maintain microservices using Java, ensuring reliability and fault tolerance
  • Drive technical initiatives aligned with HubSpot's growth culture and HEART values (Humble, Empathetic, Adaptable, Remarkable, Transparent)
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 availability of marketing platform features
  • Contribute to technical debt reduction and best practices in a fast-paced environment

  • Prototype and iterate on new features using agile methodologies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience in backend engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Java or similar backend languages with experience in scalable systems
  • Proven track record of leading small technical teams or projects to successful delivery
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to mentor junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with CRM systems or inbound marketing platforms
  • Knowledge of HubSpot's ecosystem, APIs, or inbound methodology
