Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data infrastructure supporting HubSpot's CRM and inbound marketing platforms
  • Mentor and guide a team of backend engineers, fostering HubSpot's HEARTWAY culture of humility, empathy, accountability, respect, and transparency
  • Architect high-throughput data pipelines to process billions of events from marketing campaigns, sales activities, and customer interactions
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams to define and deliver data platform roadmaps
  • Drive technical innovation in areas like real-time analytics, event streaming, and data lake architectures
  • Ensure reliability, observability, and performance of backend services at HubSpot scale (10M+ customers)
  • Conduct code reviews, technical design discussions, and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data ingestion, processing, and storage for growth-oriented features
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate data infrastructure with HubSpot's growth tools and APIs
  • Champion data security, compliance, and cost-efficiency in all infrastructure decisions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in data infrastructure or backend systems
  • Proven track record of leading technical teams and mentoring engineers in high-growth environments
  • Deep expertise in building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Spark, or similar streaming/processing frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to design and optimize backend services handling millions of CRM events daily
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience driving data-driven decisions in fast-paced SaaS environments
