We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Human Factors Engineer to join our team.

Aa a Human Factors Engineer. you will be responsible for defining the HF strategy and completing the delivery of a Human Factors Integration programme of work on significant ETCS deployment projects in the UK. This is a delivery role working within engineering delivery teams to influence the system under design and ensure a safe and reliable solution to the client. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ergonomic and human factors principles into product design and project implementation. The role involves excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem solving, curiosity in design and a willingness to make a difference. The role will report into the Head of Human Factors and a Project Engineering Manager in delivering the technical solutions on projects, meeting the required Siemens and industry standards and processes, and ensuring that the products and systems perform to company and user expectations. This includes leading assessments, developing, and implementing management plans, and providing expert guidance on Human Factors principles to cross-functional teams.

  • Safety system experience from a complex socio technical delivery project, rail experience preferred
  • Experience delivering to Network Rail standards and processes, or equivalent organisation
  • Awareness of European Rail Traffic Management Systems, demonstrable experience preferred
  • Experience of working as an Ergonomics Contract Responsible Engineer for Network Rail, or equivalent
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams, Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance experience preferred
  • Experienced in common safety methods
  • Comfortable supporting and leading safety, design and stakeholder engagement meetings
  • Being a Chartered or working towards to Chartership of the CIEHF, mentoring available
  • Being degree qualified in Ergonomics or a related field with experience of working in Human Factors in rail
  • Willingness to travel within the UK
  • Being motivated to work across multi-disciplinary teams
