Job Title: APAC Distribution and Transportation Safety Manager

Basic Function

The APAC Distribution and Transportation Safety Manager is a key member of the APAC Regional EHS Center of Excellence, responsible for driving proactive safety performance across the region. This role combines leadership in distribution and safety and transportation safety, with a strong emphasis on developing and leveraging leading indicators and data analytics to enhance safety outcomes. The incumbent will lead the development of safety dashboards, support the HERO program, and provide strategic guidance on transportation safety, while supporting audits and compliance activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of leading indicators and data-driven safety dashboards for transportation and transportation safety performance across APAC.
  • Serve as the regional lead for the HERO program, promoting safety initiatives and a strong safety culture withing Transportation Safety.
  • Collaborate with site and divisional EHS teams to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for proactive safety improvements using tools such as KMS, Cority, and Power BI.
  • Provide technical guidance on Dangerous Goods and transportation safety, including road, marine, and air transport risk assessments.
  • Support the development and delivery of training on transportation safety and transportation safety practices.
  • Participate in and support targeted audits and assessments, with a focus on continuous improvement rather than compliance enforcement.
  • Contribute to incident investigations, learning teams, and root cause analyses to drive systemic improvements.
  • Work on additional safety related projects as determined by the Global Safety Manager and APAC Regional EHS Director.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including regulators, consultants, and industry networks.

Reporting & Relationships

Reports to: Global Safety Manager
Works closely with: APAC Regional EHS Director, Divisional and Site EHS Managers, Global Safety Team, and Logistics and Supply Chain Operational Leaders
Participates in: Regional EHS Advisory Groups, Global Safety Networks, and APAC COE Team Meetings

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in occupational and transportation safety, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in distribution and transportation safety programs, safety culture development, and leading indicator implementation.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Cority, KMS) and experience in developing safety dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of APAC regional safety and transportation regulations.
  • Certifications in Dangerous Goods transportation (e.g., IMDG, IATA, 49 CFR) are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence without authority and engage cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to identify and analyze leading indicators and systemic risks, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and setting priorities in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment.
  • Accountable for enhancing transportation and distribution safety performance through data-informed, people-centered approaches.
  • Supports line management in fulfilling their safety responsibilities and acts as a strategic EHS partner.
