Job Description:
Logistics Export/Import Coordinator
Huntsman is seeking a Logistics Export/Import Coordinator supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in the United States. This position will report to the Logistics Imports & Exports Lead, located in The Woodlands, TX.
The Logistics Export/Import Coordinator provides operational and logistics support for international transactions in the South America (SA), Europe & Middle East (EAME), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions. The role manages U.S. export and import activities, ensuring compliance, timely delivery, and coordination across multiple internal and external stakeholders to support the Polyurethanes Division.
Monitor and audit international orders daily using ERP tools (SAP) and ensure compliance prior to processing.
Process orders, book shipments, and ensure alignment with U.S. Customs regulations, Incoterms, and delivery timelines.
Coordinate closely with production planning, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), warehouses, and carriers for scheduling and load balancing.
Collaborate with global Huntsman teams to understand shipping needs and plan accordingly.
Maintain export documentation and shipment references including container types, limits, and packaging requirements.
Support import activities, including raw material and stock transfers to bulk and manufacturing sites.
Track shipments, mitigate delays, and minimize demurrage or storage fees.
Coordinate bulk marine shipments, oversee vessel/barge operations, and manage any logistical issues that arise.
Work closely with the Logistics Accounts Payable Coordinator to resolve vendor invoice discrepancies.
Participate in regular business reviews with logistics providers.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including metric development and enhanced data visibility.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
Education required:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or a related technical field (completed or in progress).
Experience required:
2+ years of experience with U.S. import/export operations, either as a shipper, broker, or freight forwarder.
Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems related to trade management and shipping.
Familiarity with Incoterms and trade compliance principles.
Knowledge of U.S. and international hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR, IATA, IMDG).
English level: B2+ (Upper Intermediate)
Strong communication and critical thinking abilities.
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Strong coordination skills and ability to influence without authority.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.); familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
Experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
Prior involvement in international trade operations, compliance, or free trade agreements.
Previous experience working with 3PLs, freight forwarders, or customs brokers.
Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Power BI (or similar tools).
This is a full-time position based in the United States.
Work is performed in a standard office setting with remote coordination across global regions.
May require occasional travel to warehouses, plants, or logistics provider sites.
