Job Description:

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a Maintenance Operator.

Maintenance operator provides detailed inspection, troubleshooting, oversight, and diagnosis of operational problems in plant and distribution systems including boilers, heat exchangers, chillers, and piping systems including expansion joints, valves, supports, and anchors.

This position will be based in Deer Park, Victoria, Australia.

As a Maintenance Operator you will: 

EH&S

Actively contribute to site Zero Harm safety culture through compliance with company policies and procedures, statutory requirements with the use of safety shares, 60 second checks, safety conversations and safety cross activities.

Conduct and review job/task risk assessments (JSA’s) for maintenance using Huntsman risk assessment methodology.

Participate in daily maintenance toolbox / safety cross meetings to plan work and ensure safety is at the forefront of daily activities.

Follow, maintain and develop appropriate lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures when maintaining plant equipment.

Participate in site EHS Audits, PHA’s and other PS studies as required.

Ensure site facilities, equipment and tool safety checks are completed in-line with SSOW, PS and regulatory requirements.

Maintenance Operator

Perform preventative maintenance activities according to PM schedules to ensure plant equipment operates in a safe and productive manner and downtime is minimised.

Write and issue work permits, including hot work permits, confined space entry permits, break-in authorities, working at heights risk assessments etc. for site maintenance and other work activities.

Monitor equipment performance and ensure it is operational and available to meet the production requirements.

Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner, apply fault finding and troubleshooting techniques to identify and address problems with machinery, equipment, or parts, and make recommendations on corrective actions.

Cooperation and effective communication with key stakeholders and Maintenance Supervisor, on maintenance requirements to ensure effective planning and highlighting potential impacts.

Undertake start up and shut down procedures in line with operating protocols / procedures.

Assist with general maintenance across the plant, buildings and site as required.

Execution of site shutdown activities to meet reliability and mechanical integrity requirements.

Control and monitor inventory of spares and maintenance consumables in line with site reliability requirements.

Monitor production down time due to equipment fault or failure and adjust maintenance strategy accordingly.

Assist in coordination of maintenance actives with site related shared services, landlord and immediate neighbours.

Purchasing

Ensure company purchasing procedures and guidelines are followed.

Obtain quotations and raise purchase requestions in Ariba for materials, tools and consumables required for plant maintenance.

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

Have a trade qualification. One of Fitter and Turner, Fitter / Welder.

Hold a current Confined Space Entry ticket, Forklift license, EWP ticket and First Aid training.

Develop, maintain and improve working knowledge of processes and equipment across the site.

Problem solving, root cause analysis & priority setting skills.

Sound mechanical and chemical process logic skills and understanding.

Working knowledge of the Standards and Operating procedures applicable to the plants & stores.

Possess a strong focus on EHS and safe work practices, including risk assessments and permits writing to perform safe maintenance work.

Good working knowledge of EHS regulations, process safety and safe work practices.

Approximately 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing plant.
