📋 Job Overview
As a Cloud Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) at IBM, you will be part of a 'You build it, You run it' culture, focusing on developing and operating Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings for Database as a Service (DBaaS) in IBM Cloud. You will work on a follow-the-sun rotation, responding to system alerts, troubleshooting, and enhancing database technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis, and others on a Kubernetes platform.
📍 Location: BUDAPEST, HU (Remote/Hybrid)

🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Join the follow-the-sun rotation as the primary responder for automated system alerts
- Follow runbooks to resolve issues and use troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose or troubleshoot platform or Data Service issues
- Develop configuration, scripts, and other tooling that allow databases to run in a highly available Kubernetes based Cloud Environment
- Participate in the design of the service, writing tools and automation, building containers, developing tests, determining monitoring best practices, and handling complex customer escalations
- Understand database software, replication, HA configurations, and operations in a production environment
✅ Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience operating one or more of PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, or Kafka (or similar) in production environments
- Experience with installing and configuring database software
- Experience in Software Development (preferably Python or Golang)
- Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving database hosting issues (e.g., replication, clustering) in production
- Knowledge of database application best practices, including schema and index designs
- Experience in application and performance design using databases and troubleshooting of application-side database issues
- Experience with Kubernetes in production- and CI/CD environments
