📋 Job Overview

The Engineering Manager for the HashiCorp InfraGraph, Graph Engine Team at IBM will lead a remote-first team focused on building a resource graph system to model and query infrastructure resources.   • Provide direction and set expectations for a distributed, remote-first team of backend engineers
  • Own the delivery and operational health of your team's services
  • Guide the team in making sound technical trade-offs while building distributed systems that are scalable, reliable, compliant, secure, and performant
  • Participate in an on call rotation to ensure we support our customers and our on call staff when they need it most
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders in Product, Design, and Customer Support Engineering to define roadmaps and technical strategies that support business goals
  • Foster diversity, inclusion, and equity within the team and across our organization
  • Help engineers grow their skills and careers

✅ Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a direct people management role for a backend or data engineering team
  • Experience supporting highly-available, business-critical production systems and a commitment to DevOps principles
  • Familiarity applying best practices for remote engineering work
  • Experience using modern delivery practices to manage cross-team initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills: writing and speaking with clarity and brevity, tailoring messages for different audiences, keeping stakeholders informed, delivering actionable feedback, initiating crucial conversations even when it may be uncomfortable
  • Demonstrated business acumen and customer focus
  • A readiness for change and adaptability in dynamic situations
