📋 Job Overview
The Event Streams Developer at IBM will develop, deploy, and manage Kafka-based data pipelines for real-time data streaming. The role involves designing and maintaining Kafka producer and consumer applications, and configuring and optimizing Kafka clusters. Candidates should be passionate about developing high-quality, highly available services in a CICD environment using cloud technologies like Kubernetes.

🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and manage Kafka-based data pipelines for real-time data streaming
- Design and maintain Kafka producer and consumer applications using Java, Scala, or Python
- Configure, monitor, and optimize Kafka clusters, topics, and brokers to support high throughput event streaming
- Participate in the design of the service, writing tools and automation, building containers, developing automated tests, implementing monitoring and runbooks
- Handle complex customer escalations
- Join follow-the-sun rotation as primary responder for automated system alerts
- Follow runbooks to resolve issues and use troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose or troubleshoot platform or Data Service issues
✅ Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience
- Strong experience developing on Apache Kafka, including Kafka Streams and Kafka Connect
- 3-5 years experience in Kubernetes and CICD environment
- 3-5 years experience with developing and operating highly available, distributed applications in production environments on Kubernetes
- 3-5 years experience with managing service dependencies such as service credentials or other cloud service via Terraform or Ansible
