Linux Development Manager

📋 Job Overview

As a Linux Development Manager at IBM's Linux Technology Centre, you will lead a team of engineers in designing and developing advanced features for Enterprise Linux, focusing on core kernel components and performance optimization for Power systems. You will also manage team growth, collaborate with product teams and the Linux community, and provide technical direction to drive innovation and efficiency.

📍 Location: BANGALORE, IN (Remote/Hybrid)

🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop state of the art features for Enterprise Linux, including development and optimization of various components in the core kernel and related areas such as Memory management, CPU scheduler, RAS, I/O and KVM
  • Drive delivery of out of box performance for key workloads on Power systems
  • Manage the career growth of team members, scale hiring and development processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team
  • Partner with product teams to brainstorm ideas and collaborate on delivering an exceptional product
  • Interact and actively participate in the Linux kernel community discussions for feature design and development
  • Work towards the goal to ensure Power systems objectives are optimally achieved
  • Interact with teams above and below the stack to ensure goals are met holistically
  • Provide technical guidance by actively participating in architectural discussions, developing code, and advocating for new process improvements to drive innovation and efficiency
