The Software Engineering Manager for HashiCorp Infragraph at IBM leads a remote-first team to develop high-quality connectors for major cloud platforms. 🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed, remote-first team of backend engineers, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to define the roadmap, technical direction, and strategy for the Connector Engineering team
  • Own the delivery and operational health of the team's services, including all first-party connectors (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, HCP) and their lifecycle maintenance
  • Guide the team in defining best practices and reference implementations for connectors
  • Work cross-functionally with the Infragraph Platform team to identify and resolve API gaps and with the Graph Engine team to ensure schema compliance
  • Support and mentor a community of external contributors, reviewing third-party contributions for quality and compliance
  • Enable your team's success by removing blockers, managing priorities, and supporting their professional development

✅ Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a direct people management role for a backend engineering team
  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience building, scaling, and debugging distributed, highly available systems in a production environment
  • Strong technical background in backend development, preferably with services written in Go
  • Empathetic and effective communicator who values collaboration, feedback, and continuous learning
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and guide a team through complex technical and product decisions
  • Experience with integration-heavy services or consuming third-party public APIs
  • Deep experience with one or more major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
