Come join the Intuit Personalization Platform team as a Staff Software Engineer. This team is responsible for core technologies that enable a highly personalized, delightful experience for our customers. You will be using cutting edge technologies such as React, Java, Kubernetes, AWS, and machine-learning models to build tooling and services to unlock this capability.
We are looking for team members who love solving big customer challenges and writing beautiful code that translate into intuitive applications.
Responsibilities
Gathering functional requirements, developing technical specifications, and project & test planning
Designing/developing prototypes or proofs of concepts (PoC’s).
Self-starter attitude and ability to make decisions independently.
Influence and drive best practices and technical excellence within your team.
Drive backend architecture that optimizes for scalability, availability while supporting rapid experimentation.
Mentoring junior engineers, new team members, and applying technical expertise to challenging programming and design problems.
Roughly 70-85% hands-on coding.
Ability to influence and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
Work cross-functionally with various Intuit teams: product management, Design, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results.
Contribute to the design and architecture of the project.
Build and maintain common components used by multiple teams.
Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, or Extreme Programming methodologies
Passion for troubleshooting issues in production and being data driven
Qualifications
MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.
Solid hands on experience building large and complex highly available, highly scalable, low latency distributed systems
Hands-on experience building ML inference infrastructure systems
8+ years of programming experience using Java, Node, REST and Spring
Strong understanding of the Software design/architecture process
Experience with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)
Strong database fundamentals including SQL & no SQL (Cassandra), performance and schema design
Experience with various offerings from AWS - S3, EC2, EMR, ELB/ALB
Understanding of CI/CD pipeline design and management (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle).
Passion for troubleshooting issues in production and being data driven
Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Always Be Learning: Experience with open source technologies (if no practical work experience w/ Big Data, or cutting edge back-end technology—you’re prototyping and/or researching the upcoming technology and solution)

Bay Area California $ 197,000- 266,500
80,000 - 130,000 USD / yearly
